Well, after missing out on a new puppy from a litter back at the end of October, we are now lucky enough to have a new little boy joining Domino, Sophie and myself just before Christmas!! His name is Chequer and it appears that Domino has taken him 'under her wing' already.
Weighing in around 6lbs, Chequer seems happy with his new bed and also his chew, which will hopefully prevent too many other items around the house becoming somewhat, Dog-eared!! He is just over 7 weeks old and will be spending his first night away from a 12 strong litter (9 girls, 3 boys) tonight with the 3 of us.
Chequer doesn't seem very impressed with the current weather conditions here in Calgary which are around the -16c mark, but our good neighbours have already helped by supplying some of the necessary gear to encourage him out into the snow! A Dalmatian isn't really built for the really cold climate as they don't have an undercoat and especially as a young pup, they feel it somewhat!
Domino is a little unsure about the new edition and has already put the 'new kid on the block' in his place a couple of times, but generally they seem to being getting on well, for such early days. I think she will be sleeping with one eye open for a while though!
Just so cute!!
We will keep you all posted with pictures as he grows, which will be all too quick I'm sure.
